On the evening of Monday, June 25, 2012, more than 20 of YTTM's members met at Giovanni's Restaurant of East Orlando to celebrate the end to our very first year of existence!
And what a year to celebrate it was! Every Thursday evening our meetings rocked with laughter as members enjoyed personal growth while building wonderful friendships.
The piece de resistance for the year, was earning the prestigious "President's Distinguished Club" award!
Members (and future members) of
all ages were in attendance. Shown here are the Burridge
Family. Emma Marie, in the foreground reflects the
excitement of her parents, Mabel and Michael Burridge.
Mabel is also a Charter member of the club and our new Sgt-At-Arms!
While inducting each officer,
Toastmaster Hoehn announces their duties to the attendees, before
asking the officer to confirm their commitment to lead. The
gavel is a symbol of authority and leadership. Each officer
holds the gavel while making their commitment.
YTTM cannot be a great club without enthusiastic members and the most capable, energetic leaders. We truly appreciate this powerhouse team for stepping forward!
After all officers were inducted, our Incoming President, Lygia Arcaro, CC (left) presented the Past-President pin to our outgoing President, Janet Beckles, CC (right).
President Arcaro brings to our club, the leadership skills she currently uses as an employee for Orlando's Veterans' Administration.
"Thank you for stepping up, Lygia, and especially for serving our Vets!"
As of July 1, 2012, Janet Beckles, CC will begin her DISTRICT Leadership role, serving as Area 52 Governor for District 84. "Normally one is expected to have several years experience to take on a District role," Governor Hoehn begins, "but Janet has visited many clubs, assisted at District events and has led a brand new club to the highest level of achievement possible. This is the type of leader our District seeks!"
Farewell to an incredible year. Hello to a spectacular year to come!
